Philippines to host Rio+20 Side Event


As part of the government’s participation to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio +20 conference ), the NEDA-Philippine Council for Sustainable Development shall be conducting a side-event entitled, “Sustaining the Gains of Philippine Agenda 21” on 17 June 2012, 13:00 – 15:00 at the Pavilion 3-F, Rio Centro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The activity aims to showcase the gains achieved and lessons learned by the Philippines on sustainable development thus far, potentials for a Green Economy and recommendations for enhancing the country’s Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development.

About 40-60 participants of the Rio+20 conference from various countries, international government organizations and the Philippine delegation are expected to attend the event.This activity is being organized by the Philippine Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Climate Change Commission (CCC) in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
