PCSD discusses Philippine Long-term Development Action Plan
The Philippine Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), chaired by Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Arsenio M. Balisacan, discussed on Thursday, December 12, the long-term sustainable development action plan for the Philippines from 2016 to 2046.
During the 4th quarter PCSD meeting, Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment Staff (ANRES) Director Mercedita A. Sombilla said the planned Philippine Sustainable Development Action Plan is a rolling plan that will be implemented in phases with corresponding strategies each phase. She said evaluation will be done periodically to assess the situation of the country and make appropriate revisions to the Plan. Dir. Sombilla added that the Plan will be aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2011-2016 and will serve as guiding post for short and medium term plans that will be developed in the covered period.
Sec. Balisacan said the long term plan, which was a result of several consultations, provides a good direction for policy-making for the country. However, he stressed the need to flesh out the framework and specify deliverable outcomes each phase to properly visualize the goals of the Plan.
Also discussed during the meeting were updates on the Philippine Development Plan Midterm Update, Yolanda Recovery and Reconstruction Plan, National Land Use Act, Black Sand Mining, and Aerial Spraying Study.
Sec. Balisacan and Dir. Sombilla were joined by NEDA Deputy Director-General Emmanuel F. Esguerra, members of PCSD and ANRES, who serves as the Secretariat of the Council.
